Terms of Use
Last updated: 2026-10-28
These terms apply to the PictureCap apps and to this website, picturecap.app. By using them you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use PictureCap.
1. What PictureCap is
PictureCap is software that backs up photos and videos from your phone to a computer you own over your local network, and can archive them to Blu-ray discs. It does not provide cloud storage. PictureCap is currently in development and testing; features, supported platforms and system requirements may change before and after release.
2. Licence
Subject to these terms, you may install and use PictureCap on devices you own or control, for your own and your family's use. You may not resell the software, remove its notices, or use it to break the law. If you obtain PictureCap from an app store, that store's terms also apply.
3. Your content and your responsibility
- Your photos and videos remain yours. We claim no rights in them and do not receive them.
- You are responsible for the content you store and for having the right to store it.
- You are responsible for your host computer, drives and discs: keep the host secure and up to date, protect account and private-library passwords, and revoke devices you no longer use.
4. Backups, discs and estimates
PictureCap verifies every file with SHA-256 and adds repair data to discs, but no software, drive or disc can guarantee that data will never be lost. Keep more than one copy of anything important, store discs dry and dark, and check your backups from time to time.
Disc and drive lifespans, prices, exchange rates and cost comparisons on this website are estimates based on the cited sources and dates. They are for general information only, are not guarantees, and may differ from what you pay or experience.
5. Third-party services
PictureCap works with hardware and services we do not control, such as your operating system, iCloud, disc burners and media, and app stores. Their terms and limitations apply to them.
6. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, PictureCap and this website are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of data, arising from their use. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by law.
7. Changes
We may update these terms, for example when PictureCap is released. The date above shows the latest version. If you continue to use PictureCap after an update, the updated terms apply.
